Rurouni Kenshin

Are there two different versions of the Rurouni Kenshin manga? Cause today, my brother and I were in a bookstore looking at the manga. He was reading the RK manga while we waited on our dad to come pick us up (last minute christmas shopping and stuff). He didn't buy it, so I got volume one to read. When I showed it to him he said it was different from the one he'd been reading. I asked if it was another volume, but he said it said Volume 1 on the front and side. And you know the picture on the side of the manga volumes? he said instead of being at the bottom, it was at the top. I didn't see it, so I didn't know until we got home. Can anybody help me out here?

EDIT: I found pictures of what I'm talking about... at least the covers, anyway.

Frubafan hit it on the head - the font that they use for the numbers on those manga is difficult to read. If you look at the pic closely for the first image, you'll see that the top of the number is extended out with a straight line, and in the second pic the top of the number is shorter and extended with a curved line. That's the difference between the "1" and the "7" in that font.

Hahaha, I made that same mistake when I went to buy my first two Kenshin mangas. They actually had volume 7 sitting right in front of volume 2, so I was thinking, "I've never seen that character before...The manga must be so different!" XD Of course, it's actually Saito on the front of volume 7, who doesn't make his first appearance until the Kyoto arc. Good thing I started out with 2 and 4, instead of spoiling it for myself...XD 7 happens to be one of my favorite volumes; however.
