Something to thank God for!

I watched a friend get baptised two days ago.

The story first started around two and a half years ago, when I was doing some sketches at the artists' area (which had the unintended effect of scaring people away) in this annual comics and pop culture convention in Sydney.

A woman came up to me, followed closely by her teenage son. She asked me about how I got into drawing (to which I think I gave the lame reply of "By drawing.."), and made some general remarks about comics.

But the questions that caught my attention had to do with her concern for her son's welfare, as she felt that by being immersed in comics and gaming, he'd slack off in his studies and put his own future in jeopardy. The woman and I talked briefly about this, and I tried to tell her how in my own growing up amongst these things I looked for the good values and discarded the bad.

I couldn't remember her exact words, but her next question was to the effect of "How? How do you know what is good and bad?". At this stage, I felt that to talk about this properly, we really needed some quality time and talk things through. So we swapped e-mail addresses and it was goodbye for the time being.

Sometime later, we e-mailed each other and continued our conversation. Once again, the question of how one could discern between good and bad was brought up. This time, I told her that Jesus guided me in my discernment. It was then that the questions about faith and religion appeared, and I tried my best to answer her questions.

Sometime after this, she told me that she had another Christian friend who asked her to go to church with her, and she agreed to do so. Soon after, I somehow discovered (I forgot how, she probably told me) that her friend went to the same church as I did. We just happened to be going to different congregations and we didn't know each (the church I go to has a few hundred people and I don't know everyone ... since I am not a popular guy - haha).

Anyway, some months ago my friend decided to become a Christian, and I am so overjoyed!!!!!

God is really wonderful, and I've been reminded again that though we may not see the results, or we may not be the ones who actually tell the gospel to our friends, we can all help in some way if we make ourselves available to be used by God to bring his love to others.

I really thank God for what He has done!

From personal experience I have also learned that this is true. Although we may not always see the fruit of our labor, it doesn't matter. As long as we do what God is telling us to do when he tells us to do we can be confidant that we did what we were supposed to do and that God will take care of the rest.

You definately planted some seeds and got to see them grow!

[i]Two vast and trunk-less legs of stone stand in the desert. Near them, on the sand, half sunk, a shattered visage lies. Round the decay of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare the lone and level sands stretch far away. On the pedestal these words are inscribed:

“My name is Ozymandias, king of kings:
look on my works, ye mighty, and despair!â€
