a drug of choice lust, A

to some "a tastey treat", B

it corrupts the minds of the just, A

it leavs the soul in shambles, D

we give up true wealth and happiness for some crummy peices of art. C

slowly many lights are lits, multiple candles, D

everyone placed around the caskit with utter carelessness, E

amongst the pews not a man can be seen, F

as we walk about the gloomful room we come to this place cloud in weariness, E

and we find to our horror that the ones in the burial are you and me. F

We have come to find, to our regret, that we are the ones in the grave lying, G

you me and all of these that chose to endorse this wretched heart rot, H

if only we had been aware of our own soul's dying,G

then maybe, just maybe, at this life we would have had a shot. H

Lust is, indeed, a terr'ble scourge
And it, from ourselves, we must purge,
Yet 'tis but one of many things
That to our soul true peril brings.

For while we battle this dread bane
Forget we Pride, Mammon doth stay,
Many and varied be the stain
That without God our soul will slay.

Oh, grant us Lord that we might see
Our ev'ry sin, and seek for Thee.
"...cease not a day from this work; be killing sin or it will be killing you." - John Owen The Mortification of Sin
