I can't even remember how many times this place changed its theme now.

Anyway, light text on black is always win.

Woah.. did I type in the wrong URL?!?

Oh wait.. the default skin is all black now, is that correct? When I signed in it changed to a somewhat-more-similar light greyish theme.

This horizontal user bar thing look might take a bit of getting used to..

Anyways, thanks for your efforts!

Like some other people have said: change happens. Myself, I find light font on dark background easier on the eyes, so the balance seems positive even on a superficial level (not to mention internal improvements). Just have to retrain myself to find "User CP" and "Get New" in different places...

I kind of like a darker background myself, I think. It seems a little easier than having my eyes blasted with a bunch of white.

Uhm... I like most of it but I have one big issue with the new layout.

ALL of the old uploaded images are like gone. When I click on an uploaded image it doesn't show up and it says it is a 1x1 gif? This is especially distressing since I have not had a chance to judge the coloring contests and I can no longer see any of the entries.

I kind of like the new image gallery and I kind of don't... I prefered just having the gallery be part of the actual forums But I think with time I will get used to the change.

Also if someone stumbled across the site they wouldn't really know where they were. it would be nice to have some sort of CAA logo at the top. I also miss the links to anime angels and the project which used to be at the top of the page.

lastly what happened to the front page??? I missed having announcements and such on the front page. Are you going to bring it back?

Whoa, snazzy! Starting directly from a forum page caught me off-guard, but it's nice! Positive feedback from El Bardo!

The blue and green balls by people's name have still not been explained.

Please explain. It's not gender related. It is post related??

It's online related. If you're online, the button turns green. If you're off, it turns off. Very useful. XD

I'm also happy to say that I've gotten used to the dark format, and now I can't change back because I'm so used to it. XD But it's okay, my LJ is dark to so getting used to this wasn't too difficult.

question

Postby The Doctor » Fri Aug 03, 2007 11:18 pm

Why the change?

I liked the old page where it said in bold letters "CAA" and everything was laid out like some futuristic Japanese wallscroll that was computerized.

Did the contract to use that image run out?

Again, I know change happends, but the new look makes the place seem as little more than just another "forum" and not a "community".

I can't explain it, but the old site seemed to say "there's more here than meets the eye" while the new design says to me "this it. This is all there is, live with it."

I'll deal if these are the final changes, but I just wanted to voice my concern and I apologize if anyone's feelings are hurt over my comments.

The list of "currently online members" used to be in alphabetical order (except for your username), but now the list seems to be in no apparent order. It's just a minor issue, but I preferred it in alphabetical order.

Thanks for your hard work. I especially like the blue or green balls next to our names. If you're going to change things further, please try to keep this aspect.

That's a good idea. I was under the impression that any/all 404s were jumping back to the main page - making this the default, but I'll look into why it's not working for you.

I'm still loving the new design, but I noticed a problem recently:

In the gallery, you can't get to the second/third/etc. page of comments unless you actually make a post. It's like the links to the other pages don't work or something. Just thought I'd mention it and see if there are any problems with that. XD

Thanks!

Wanted to say thanks for updating at least one of the old skins with the top buttons. Is there any chance we might see the old CAA Dark again?

The current upgrade path does not account for re-writing additional skins. I do not have the bandwidth for that at this time.

We might add that as we look through additional issues related to usability.

Is the inability to edit one's own posts after a period of time a bug or a feature?
